Argument over strudel leads to stabbing
WEST VALLEY CITY — Police were shaking their heads late Monday after an apparent argument between roommates over Toaster Strudels led to one man being stabbed.
Three roommates, all in their early to mid-20s, living near 7200 West and 2700 South, got into an argument over who ate one of the other roommates' Toaster Strudels, said West Valley police Capt. Tom McLachlan.
One of the men left but returned later with three friends, who all proceeded to assault the two other roommates, he said.
"One roommate is getting beat up pretty bad. He gets a knife and stabs one of the assailants," McLachlan said.
The person stabbed was taken by helicopter to a local hospital in serious condition.
Investigators are seeking misdemeanor assault charges against the men who entered the apartment and started the fight. McLachlan said prosecutors would decide whether the man accused in the stabbing was acting in self defense or should be charged.
